AVED 209..... The end begins!!

Starting into Ash vs Evil Dead episode 209 today - cant believe its getting to that time already!!
Been a great season to work on thus far and the last two episodes are huge so we have the next few weeks cut out for us:) Onwards to the end!!!!!

The Brokenwood Mysteries Season 03

The Brokenwood Mysteries Foley wrapped this week, with 4 feature length episodes completed!!!
Large episodes this time around and made for a busy time amongst the other Foley we are currently doing. Notebooks, coffee cups, couches, doors and small town murder mysteries were all masterfully performed and delivered this season.

Heritage Rescue

Heritage Rescue starts this Sunday on Choice Tv!!
The show explores small town NZ's museums and aids them with their displays and issues, to help preserve these historic treasures.
The audio edit, tracklay, V/O's and mix were all done here and I assisted with atmos tracklays and SFX for half of the episodes. A great little show with insight into some interesting corners of NZ!

Chief Gary Foley

Foley for Chief Gary (Gary of the Pacific) has wrapped today, with a selection of sun, sand, semi surf, and island life!!
Jon Bruce and myself performed, with Amy Barber holding down the Rec desk.
What a fantastic way to spend a wintery few weeks, basking in the sunshine streaming from the screen:)

Ash vs Evil Dead Season 2!!!!!!

Oh yeah, been hanging out for this one!!!!
Season 2 kicks off with us today, with ten episodes of over the top gore foley!!!
Bring it on!!!!

The Rehearsal

Foley completed for the Rehearsal today, a film starting James Rolleston (Boy) and exploring a lives of a group of drama school students. Alot of the feature was filmed on location at Unitec so we were able to gain access to two of the large rooms that were used in the film to record ambiences and general footsteps / bodyfalls.
The Bleachers room was very typical of a large room and some great walking was captured.
The Dance room was amazing, with a massive reverb. So wished I had a floor tom with me!!!!!

The Wonder (Into the Rainbow)

Preparartions start today for the Foley record for Into the Rainbow - a NZ / China co-porduction revolving around two teenage friends adventures as they chase an elusive super powered rainbow.

Cueing of all foley starts this week, which will be followed by record and edit:)

K'rd Stories

K'rd stories - a set of ten short films based around life on Auckland's infamous K'rd wrapped today.
We performed foley, editing dialogue, tracklayed effects and mixed a number of these shorts for the screenings that will be held at various locations on K'rd next week:)

Ash vs the Evil Dead Foley

Holy shit!! What an amazing 3 months of audio adventures during the creation of the Foley and sound design for this show. Amy, Gareth, Jonathan and myself provided the Foley for Episodes 2 to 10 (Ep 1 being done in LA for Sam Raimi) and during the progression of the series, Jonathan and Gareth also started doing the SFX track lay for episodes 6 to 10.
So it was a very busy and very rewarding 3 months worth of work!!!
Aside from recording some great Foley and insane Gore, we provided a Chainsaw record for the SFX team, got to do a gun record with some of the weapons from the show (under the watchful supervision of the licensed owner), go crazy with some grinder recording and visit the set to record the legendary Delta (what a beast of a vehicle) and Ruby's car.
I could continue for paragraphs explaining the fun but its better to see a few pics:)

Step Dave Season 2

Again, another month almost gone, packed to the brim with Foley performance and editing!
This time its a few episodes of Step Dave Season 2 - Eps 7, 8 and 10.
The feet had already been performed at Images so G and myself handled the cloth and props.
Good times with handbags, eating, drinking and a lot of cloth!!

Another 2 days in the studio this week with A.Barber at the helm and a pilot for an Aussie Tv show show to complete! Feet, props, telephone cords, glasses and quite the computer masturbation scene made for a very hilarious two days!

Dialogue ADR editing

Editing of the ADR for the Stan Walker film Born to Dance started today,
A great insight into the process of syncing dialogue from an ADR session into a film, taking into account perfromance and then editing that performance to the exact original.

Foley for Beyond the Known World

Wooooohooooo!!!
After convincing my current employer to allow me to drop my day job hours back to 3 days a week,
I will now be able to take up the offer of 2 days a week training at Tone Audio, under the watchful eye of the talented and very generous Amy Barber!!! Starting today!! Hell yeeeeees:)

Located in the Foley Room facility in Ellerslie, the work will include general session preparation, foley performance, foley editing, track laying and dialogue editing. Having had over 10 years of Post experience (incl 5 years at Reade Audio), Amy is passionate about high end audio for film and tv, and will be an amazing person to learn from. Bring it on!!!!!
