Atomic Falafel

The last two weekends have been spent hard at work, performing foley for Atomic Falafel!
Car door grabs/touches, car seat movements, steering wheel grabs, couch sit downs / get ups, gravel walking, van tyres and a trusty dog have all been foleyed, under the guidance of A.Barber.
Much fun was had and a lot of different surfaces were used and abused:)

Gore and Bones Foley!!

A full weekend was spent in the Foley room this weekend, doing more foley for Turbo Kid.
Saturday was weapons and a heap of body falls with A. Barber on record, which was great fun.
And Sunday was G-Tech and myself performing props in the morning and gore in the afternoon.

The gore foley was produced with a secret recipe of fruit (at peak ripeness) and gritty objects,
and was amazing fun. Under the watchful ear of A.Barber, we managed to produce some truly  cringing bone breaks, splatter impacts, face blending and an epic 'lower jaw removal then re-insertion into face'.
Epic mess - epic times!!
I also reached a personal milestone - I got to foley bone rattle with an actual dog skeleton from my bone collection. The rattle of the Cadaver Dog.....It does not get much better than this:)
Big thanks to Amy and G for an excellent weekend!!

Reality show completed

After some epic weeks of after hours editing, learning and a doubling of coffee intake, I managed to get the dialogue editing completed on episodes 3 thru to 7 of The Reality Trip - an upcoming TV show based on overseas adventures of some NZ teens.
Big thanks to Amy Barber for her patience and advice during these sessions - it was a great learning experience and looking forward to more!

Reality TV editing 101

After receiving the call from The Foley Room,  I headed out to ellerslie get some schooling in the art of track laying for television. It was great to be back out there and the room re-arrangement and general vibe of the place was awesome!!
I was sent home with EP 3 of an upcoming Reality show and some long nights ahead - bring it on!!

A weekend in the Studio....

After receiving a nice new pair of mallets in the mail this week, I have been itching for the weekend to roll around so I could get some metal surface recording done for an upcoming Industrial cover song I'm working on for a local band.
After borrowing a few metal drums and some scrap metal from work, I mic'd up and let it roll.
The mallets were great - hard headed but different velocities gave very different results as well as
wrapping the heads in socks and other such softeners for less attack and more ambience.

For the over driven, all encompassing ring of metal needed

V48Hr Film Fest 2014: Foley and Post Assistant for team Bang on Bob

Assisted with Sound Editing and Foley this year, with team Bang on Bob.
They got 'revenge' as the theme and went the idea of a corporation that specializes in revenge
jobs for their clients. Very cool:)
We were lucky enough to have a special effects guy bring the blood, so I got to re-create some
great squishes and splatters for a head explosion and a leg impaling.
Bring on the water melons!!!

Before: Tools of the trade...

After: I will be finding bits of melon everywhere for the next few weeks...
